What it is

An early clinical account of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy by Chilean psychiatrist Claudio Naranjo, describing his work with substances including harmaline, ibogaine, and the amphetamine derivatives MDA and MMDA. First published in 1973, it is regarded as a historical cornerstone of the therapeutic literature and was reissued as an expanded 2nd edition by MAPS in 2013 (ISBN 9780979862281). The book reports a pioneering practitioner's observations from a pre-prohibition era; it is a historical clinical narrative, not a controlled trial, and predates psilocybin specifically.
