What it is
Psychiatrist Rick Strassman recounts U.S. government-approved clinical research he ran at the University of New Mexico from 1990 to 1995, in which about sixty volunteers received injected doses of DMT under supervised conditions. The book describes how the dosing sessions were designed and documented and reports that participants frequently described near-death and mystical-type experiences. Strassman also advances a personal, speculative hypothesis linking DMT to the pineal gland. Widely cited as an early model for how modern supervised psychedelic dosing studies are structured.
