1. What the law is
Drugs (Prevention of Misuse) Act (Act 9 of 1988, Revised Edition 2020), s. 4(1): controlled drugs are the substances and products specified in Part I, II or III of Schedule 2, and Class A drugs are those in Part I. Schedule 2 Part I lists psilocin by name, so psilocin is a Class A drug; psilocybin is not named and is controlled through paragraph 3, which covers an ester or ether of a listed substance, while paragraph 5 covers any preparation or other product containing such a substance. Possession of a controlled drug is an offence. Under s. 4(2) the Minister may amend the Schedule by order published in the Gazette.1

Possession is an offence. Naturally occurring fresh mushrooms are named nowhere in the statute.
